Coronavirus – latest update from Bradford Council

Save lives and stay at home this weekend

The biggest thing you can do to save lives is to please Stay At Home.

Despite the warm weather forecast this weekend, people should continue to stick to the Government’s restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

People should stay at home and only leaving their house for the following reasons:

    • to shop for basic necessities such as food or medicine and this should be done as infrequently as possible
    • one form of exercise a day such as a run, walk or cycle, alone or with those you live with
    • for a medical need including to donate blood, avoid harm, or to provide care or help for a vulnerable person
    • travelling for work that can not be done at home

Even when doing these activities time spent away from the home should be kept to an absolute minimum and always ensuring to keep two metres (6ft) away from people that you don’t live with.

Parks in the Bradford district are still open for those local to them, but all car parks at parks and destinations like Ilkley Moor, Haworth and Cliffe Castle have had to be closed to encourage people to exercise locally and reduce crowding.

We have also had to close Glen Road to stop people driving to it and parking on the roadside.

Farmers and landowners have also reported people are parking in gateways and passing places, which is hindering them in their vital work, producing food to feed the nation.

The message is clear – Stay At Home.

We know people will be tempted to go out this weekend especially as we are forecast to get some nice weather, but the single most important thing you can do to save lives is to Stay At Home.

Most people are complying and are understanding and we’d like to thank them for this.

There are still some people who are continuing to try and find any excuse as to why they think the rules don’t apply to them. We know that this is hard, but every time you go out you are quite literally putting your life and the lives of those who you come in to contact with at risk.

    ·        Anyone could have coronavirus

    ·        Even if you don’t have symptoms you could still pass the infection on to other more vulnerable people.

    Please do the right thing
